Reversing camera

Problem with my reversing camera any ideas of a cure some times it works and other times it doesn’t it’s a 2019fiat ducato select reverse and it says camera not available then occasionally it works and then the next time nothing I don’t have a clue as to what is wrong I don’t use it to reverse as her in doors always sees me back but it should work I no the vans under warranty but it is hassle having to take it in for repair just hoping for an easy fix

By the Sargent Unit in the top wall cupboard is a metal box the size of a cigarette packet. Check the 2 cables going in to the box are fully in as they are your camera cables in and out.

It could be an issue with the reverse signal; i.e. the reverse signal wire needs to have a constant fixed connection or else the system won't allow a signal to be transmitted.

Try the box suggestion first but if that doesn't work then I reckon it'll be a loose reverse signal wire - bad connection.

Had a look at all the connections didn’t find any that were loose I’ll have to get some body to check the camera is getting power as I am no good at electric testing with a multimeter it’s all beyond me if not I’ll take it back to dealer and let them sort it I was hoping to sort it myself to save all the hassle and time. many thanks for your suggestions much appreciated

The converter will have fitted it so based on your symptoms I think you have a dodgy connection on the wire which intercepts the signal on the reverse gear selector.

My sons neighbour is good with vehicle electrics but he’s just gone away for a couple of weeks I will go see him when he’s back and I’ll let you know what’s up with the camera many thanks for your help.

Hi, mine started to show blue static and horizontal lines leaving the ferry in February. Johns Cross diagnosed is as a faulty camera and fitted a new one last month. We have a 2016 Auto-trail Delaware and it was factory fitted.
