I now have a Victron MPPT 100/30 smart controller waiting to be fitted, replacing my current Vechline PWM controller which came with the MH. I see that the Victron comes with a small rotary dial that allows you to select a charge algorithm. Its default position is no.2.

Im hoping that this will be the right selection for my single, 95amh AGM battery ?

And finally I believe that the battery connections are fitted first and then the solar panel ones, is this right?

I haven't had a proper look at my current set up but hopefully there is some sort of isolator to allow me to connect up the solar panel without it being ‘live’ or should I do it at night. Thanks guys

If it were me I would look at the specs for the battery and pick the closest one to the battery.

Yes battery connected before panel, this is so that the controller can recognise the battery voltage. You can cover the panel with a thick blanket or cardboard prior to disconnecting if you cannot isolate the panel from the controller. If you have no isolator then it's probably a good time to fit one, you should isolate the panel if you need to disconnect your leisure battery for some reason in the future.
Sorry can't help with the charging profile.

Forget faffing with the rotary switch. Set the battery type with the bluetooth app. You'll be using the app in the future to see how good your solar generation is, so use it for all the configuration stuff too (which the manual shows over-rides the rotary).

Connect everything up, as others above advise, then sort out the bluetooth config (controller needs power for the bluetooth to work). Wont harm anything for the half hour or so that you are taking to set it up of it's the wrong battery selected by default.
