Full Time 2011-2013, now part timers!
I’m hoping to persuade my husband to replace our current original radio with one that has Apple Car play. We use my phone plugged in for music, & my iPad using google maps for navigation. I’m hoping to get a double din unit (?) with a 10” screen to get rid of all the wires! I’ve seen some on eBay for about £150, & wonder if anyone has experience of these cheaper ones? I know the sound will probably better on such as Pioneer or Kenwood, but I really don’t think I can persuade him to part with more than about£200! We have steering wheel controls, so this is a consideration. Are the touch screens any good or would it drive me mad being slow? I’d like to get my ducks in a row before I start the persuading! Will it be a fairly simple job! All recommendations/advice appreciated!

Hi.
I have fitted many radio upgrades in my time. Some good, some bad. The worst DAB radio was a pioneer. So price and quality are not busom buddies.
That being said I have had a few good experiences fitting these type of add ons.

10.26 Inch Carplay Screen for Car, Portable Car Stereo with 4K Dashcam and Rear Camera Support Wireless Carplay/Android Auto/Airplay/Bluetooth/Voice Control/GPS/AUX, Ips Touchscreen with 64G TF Card https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CYC11QB8?tag=mhf04-21

Radio upgrade touch screens. You don't need to replace your radio then.

Not used one but I always start by checking the seller feedback negative to see how they resolve or reply.
First few are about this unit, you make your own mind up

That one fits into a Single DIN slot. So you need to remove your current single din radio to fit it.
The one I sent just sits on the dashboard and plugs into the original radio. Easier to fit I'd you are not confident.

Looks interesting! Not sure about fm sound to radio though - the aux slot on ours is what is wearing out, so could not be used. More food for thought though! Thanks!
