Last job to do on our newly aquired motorhome, 2 of the ignitors on the gas rings are not sparking, one out of the three works, so question is does the cooker need to be removed to replace or does the top lift off somehow like household cookers?
Not a big problem as we can use a gas lighter, but would like to replace if the cooker doesnt need to come out.

Try cleaning them. They should all spark together
How best to do it please? Mine ignite but don't stay lit. I've stuck pins in the holes.

Is there something else rf9rider and I can do please?

Joy.. That sounds like a Thermocoupler issue..

Google youtube "caravan thermocoupler" will give you some ideas.

Joy it sounds like the thermocouple isn't working, is it one burner or all of them?

First thing i tried, still not working
It could be a cracked electrode or a wire shorting out, the only way to check is to take the job apart. Hobs are not all the same some can have the top removed and some cannot, best to check your hob's make and model the Google it

movan Or, it could be that you're just not holding the nob in long enough. It needs to heat the thermocouple or the valve will close again.

Perhaps try this before spending money or making work? Good luck!

There are two bits
One is the spark ignitor that surrounded by a ceramic cover.
Some times if one is shorted all the power goes to the easiest one and you wont get any sparks.
It also depends on whether the spark is powered by a battery - a piezo generator push button - or mains.
The other bit is a thermocouple that must have a flame playing onto it - It can simply fail and you need to replace it

The Ex-Gasman All but one is simply refusing... The other two eventually light.

rf9ridrer sorry for hijack. I thought answers might apply to both of us and help you too. Xx

Check that the knob is not hitting the base before the magnet has engaged

Cleaning up the electrode and spark contact area usually helps, but they do fail and need replacing. That should be easy enough but the steel self tapping screw often rusts in and the head crumbles

Not staying lit is a thermocouple issue. Either it gets knocked out of alignment with the flame or corrodes and needs cleaning or replacement

Not all hobs are created equal and some are a real pain the refurbish

Joy movan, if your hob is the same as ours (we don't have spark igniters, have to use a match !) There's a thin, clear braided wire goes from each knob to each burner that is the flame sensing device. You have to unscrew and lift the hob up to get your hand in and just pull off the spade terminals at the knobs, then refit them, that's usually enough to get the burners to stay on.
The flame sensor in the knob works by sensing a very low current that is generated at the burner's thermocouple once the flame has warmed it up, but the current/voltage is very low, so even a little bit of tarnishing on the spade connectors is enough to stop them working. I had to do it on mine a few years back.
