I wonder how many people up grade or just change a tv against others who might just wait till it goes bang before replacing it. I admit if it’s still working just leave it camp.

Well it's no good getting a 1080p TV or even a 4k TV if your eyes don't match the quality it is offering, same with smart TV's and people that have no clue how to work them or no internet, older people don't like change and would prefer to stay with what they know, nothing wrong with that as I am retired, but I do like to try and keep up to date with modern technology as long as I benefit from it and it offers something of value to me. I always try and recycle old things either giving away or selling as there seems to be too much waste nowadays.

I have just bought a smart TV as shown in another thread, its cheap and chips and will offer a lot more than what I have, we don't 'need' anything but if you have the means then you only live once and can't take it with you!

It seems a pity not to take advantage of the massive improvements in pictures quality available now. The biggest problem is buying a top spec TV small enough to fit into the van. I finished up with a 27 inch Samsung.
