We have a bike rack which we dont need to carry bikes as can put them in garage if necessary so thought we would remove the rack but leave the brackets, anyone know if that is an easy job?. Looks as if it should be but............. Its a euro carry rack and seems quite substantial so thought it may be a bit of unecessary weight.
Would send himself to check it out but apparently there's something called 'rugby' on ??‍♀️

Our Fiamma carry bike was easy to take off it hooked on at the top and then a couple of bolts on the bottom.?

Thanks Speve That sounds far to easy tho' ? Will investigate further if our cornish liquid sunshine ever dries up!

I did it and just left these brackets on, means the van is shorter for parking too
Kept the rack in storage just incase!
Didn't want to remove the brackets as it would mean having to repair the installation holes

Ps if I can do it it's easy!!

If you remove the 2 bolts from the lower brackets, then the uprights will just unhook from the top brackets without removing the brackets fro your moho.

It's quite easy to do if the installation was done recently. If not the 4 bolts (used for holding my rack on) can be a bit of a pain as they are made of stainless steel and screw into an aluminium threaded hole. There can be some corrosion.
To access the bolts carefully prize out the plastic end caps at the end of each rail. Then unscrew the bolts (might need some release oil to get them going). When removed you can lift off the bike rack. To avoid leaving access holes in front of the rails, you need to get the plastic blanking caps which are held in by the bolts. Should be straightforward but .....

Thanks all of you, ours is slightly different but the principle must be similar.
Stealaway- that looks like a major work in progress
ours was fitted when van was new i think in 2010, couldn't see any spec to find out its weight to see if it was worth leaving it on.
Korgrocker wish the back of my moho was that shiny !?
Nikki i seem to have found a bit more work for you to do?

Rain stopped long enough for a quick pic of the brackets that are left if i remove the rest of the rack, anyone know if there are covers to put on to neaten them up? a quick (as got visitors) blanking cap search comes up with roundy type ones
