Red and White Striped Board

Ive not had my Motorhome long. When I bought it, I also bought a Fiamma storage box off the previous owner. Inside there is a red and white striped board which he said is to be used on the back box in Europe. I have noticed some Motorhomes in the UK are using then when carrying a load on the bike rack.

Does anyone know if they are required in the UK and if so, when?

No required in the UK but if you have might as well use it. The diagonal lines should point downwards towards the offside. For Spain and Italy the board needs to be aluminium not plastic.

Is it double-sided? I think there were two different stripe numbers for different countries - or have they sorted that one out since I last checked?
