Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9, tis a great phone, no problems & does exactly as it says on the tin, however I'm getting increasingly frustrated in trying to find a screen protector which works?
I've always popped a film screen protector on my phones & replaced the the protectors when they become loose at the edges.
The S9 is the first phone I've owned with a curved screen & it has been a nightmare trying to get a screen protector which sticks & works.
My first efforts were the tempered glass covers, they look the mutts nuts but, the phones touch screen is unusable, even changing the settings on the phone which protector manufacturers claim allows glass covers to work doesn't help.
So I've tried quite a few clear plastic film protectors & not one of them sticks properly.
I'm beginning to suspect that the curved screen protectors simply do not stick?

I'm not careless with my phone & usually they're completely unmarked when I sell them on, so here are my thoughts, perhaps I should buy a new protector & carefully trim the edges off, that way its simply a flat screen protector.

I'm really interested in the thoughts or experiences of other forum members?

TIA...Robert.

Since the arrival of Gorilla glass I haven't felt the need for a screen protector on any phone - and I have never managed to scratch a screen

Thanks Tony, so am I to presume that my phone has this "gorilla glass" as standard?

It does. I have a Note 9. I'll admit to using a 'folio' case but that's only so it doesn't slip through my fingers :D .

Thanks Tony, that'll save me from buying another useless screen protector, have got a cover on the back of the phone for exactly the same reason, they are as slippery as a greasy weasel.

My S9 has gorilla glass and has a chip in one corner and a crack right across it. Still using it though. Gorilla glass is scratch resistant but not particularly tough so protecting it makes sense. They are also stupid money to repair, in fact its cheaper to buy a second hand one in good nick.

My Honor has a curved edge screen and I bought a gorilla glass screen protector specifically designed for this phone
It really did fit and made the edge contour seamless to the protector.
Then I dropped the phone less than 12 inches onto the corner of a marble table and the protector shattered.
I don't bother now, a new screen isn't much more expensive than a protector just harder to fit.

Screen replacement Samsung Galaxy S8 is £325. You must have an expensive protector.

+1 I keep an S7edge just in the Samsung flip cover with a couple of business cards on the card slot. Not a scratch on the screen after 3 years or so and it's used a lot on the beach as well.

Sounds like the protector did it's job? It shattered rather than the phones screen?

I have had varying degrees of success with screen protectors. A lot depends on the electronics you are protecting.
for 3 out of 4 of my devices over the last 5 years the laminated glass screen protectors worked great, but for one device it just didnt work out. The edges peeled and I had to faff about to get any input to work. I ended up giving up with that device and just bought a cover for it.

These days I buy a bump protection cover which protects the edges and back, and put a laminated glass screen protector on... Never had a broken screen in 10 years.

I have an S10 plus (had an S8 Plus before) and settled on using these

Amazon product ASIN B07MWJ8Y1T
Benefit is that they are made to work with the Spigen protective cases

Last about 6 months and even though Gorilla glass, I've found it does need protecting.

I gave up on the stick on screens as they kept lifting have just bought this cover and it's working just fine plus the phone is totally protected.

They do them for Samsung also.

I have one of these on my Note 9, it is super smart. You can answer and make calls without opening the case, it transmits through the front so you can see who's calling etc through the cover. I have the same on a couple of phones they give total protection and look good too.

Ah I'd forgotten all about those covers, Hazel & I had full gel cases on our I-Phones in the past.
Thanks...Robert.
