Re-sealing Thetford bench toilet

I need to remove old sealant and replace as the bench style toilet has “settled” and the original sealant, against the side walls, has pulled away from the plastic of the Thetford unit. This happened fairly early on in our ownership from new but washroom is tight and so wash down rather than showering was our normal use until now.

What would be a suitable sealant removal - just the ordinary screwfix stuff?
Is normal bathroom sealer good for re-doing?
