Spotted that some Funsters have ratchet type straps for securing their gas bottles which look much easier & more secure than what we currently use - looking for good quality versions & link to buy please?

Just normal 25mm luggage ratchet straps should do the trick. Tonnes on eBay/Amazon, or just pick up from Halfords. Get them without any hooks on and cut to size. Use a lighter to melt the cut edge. (Not in the actual flame, but to the side).

Plenty at car boot sales.

I prefer John’s solution cam locks, you can easily exert excessive force on the fastenings with ratchets a friend tore the sliding eye out of the aluminium channel by over enthusiastically tightening it strapping down his scooter.

Agreed. That's what we've got. (y)

Is there anything wrong with the straps that was supplied with the van or are you just looking to upgrade.

Best and easiest are cam-buckle straps. Simply pull tight and job done.
The more exertion to Undo the tighter the buckle grips. Simply press the lever to Undo.

Agreed, ratchet straps will be heavier and tend to hang down making it difficult to get them tight.

Whatever type is used though make sure they cannot 'clunk' against anything metal if they slacken/undo - the last thing you want is a piece of metal smacking against another piece and causing a spark especially if there's a bit of gas in there or a leak! Make sleeves out of an old pair of socks with the toes cut off as these will have enough elasticity in them to allow you to pull them back to tighten the straps but then 'spring' back to cover the buckle parts.

They are usually stupid webbing ones with plastic slot through buckles which are a s*d to get tight without a lot of force and even then it can be difficult to do so - I've managed it in the past by pushing a wedge in between the webbing and the cylinder side after fastening them but it's not ideal.
