I'm an oldbie MH number 10
do they fold in or not? They do for sure on the Fiat cab but I can't for the life of me get them too on the Merceded Chasis and the hand book is unclear.. .

Mine do.............. But don`t like to.... as I seem to have to give it a right hard shove or pull.. :(

where do they turn from Mo?
the arm or the mirror

I just push the arm.... Never tried just the mirror...

As Mo's ours pivot on the bracket where the arm is fitted to the body, but are very stiff and hard to move. The mirror does not pivot at the opposite end of the arm. They are now set as close to the body as possible, since one was hit by bob the builder last year.
The main glass is a Renault Mascot Van part available on fleabay we carry a spare now.
Cheers

cheers guys, I need to fold then to get on the Vierena tunnel

Give them a good squirt with WD4o.......... might help... cos you don`t want to force and break nowt....

Them`s very expensive to replace... £££££££££££££££££ `s :Eeek:

like the bloody bathroom door lock

Jeez Paul, presuming you mean in not on the tunnel, just how narrow is it, that will be a very nervy drive if you are that close to both sides and then with no mirrors :Eeek::Eeek:

@haganap

That's not for me, but then I don't ski either, I reckon there is something not wired up correctly in those that do , so I guess the tunnel is just part of the 'fun' :D:D

Is it really the only way in?

no there is a 4 hour diversion over a pass that is often closed... think we will take the train

Oh, so the motorhome goes on a train, that makes sense now, I really couldn't see me driving that close to a wall with no mirrors, I guess the 50mm gap is to the edge of the train not the tunnel wall :getmecoat:

Have fun, and in answer to your OP, although ours is a Hymer the mirrors look similar, I dread having to move mine, convinced something will break or they will be stuck in, but if you know you will have to I suggest you try before you get to a point where you have to

I dread meeting a lorry or bus on a narrow road and having no option but to move mine :(

Have fun :)

Mine definitely don't fold because I knocked 1 off in a peage last year

I drove through a tunnel having hinged myself through the peage system touching the booth with both mirrors, in a desperate attempt to escape Marseilles - Cliff was navigating - say no more.... I can tell you the drive through the tunnel was bum clenchingly exciting, with both of our heads way down in our chests, waiting for the satellite dome to be sliced off by the illuminated escape route signs.... Good luck Paul, and hope you all have a brillo soap pads time! (y)

Hi Paul yes they will push in flat, but my experience was to slacken off the Alen screws both at the arm/body and the top of the mirror, caution mine where super tight.
Had mine smashed off coming off the Steampacket ferry whilst being guided by a crew member:eek:
and then had to re-site it slightly on the body(wiring loom now broken).
Had the broken bathroom door lock fiasco:(
Enjoy your trip(y)
