Hi All,
So, Rad got a hole in it. Have new one. Done a Flush.
Anyone got any hints on doing the replacement. I have all the special Pipe Clip removal tools.
Just what needs to be removed before Rad would help if anyone has done it.
Thanks

May be a good opportunity to check you hoses too and replace while the system is drained.
It's important to check the colour of the coolant pink or blue as apparently damage can be caused by putting the wrong stuff in.

I'm a Pinky! Hoses are all good. Just need advice on getting the Rad out. I can see I need to remove Power Steering Bracket, Fuse Box bracket, hoses for turbo... anything unseen help?

Hi Calamaster

Did mine recently :

It can come out below ,which is apparently easier but van needs to lifted up.

I did mine from top as the abs pump, Aircon radiator where in the way, as to get bolts for Aircon radiator I had to remove headlights and grill anyway. I also moved the underbonnet fuse box as well and intercooler.

It's worth checking crossmeber whilst that is all out. Mine is showing early signs of rust so I treated it while I was there.

I used the cardboard the radiator came in to protect it as I slid it into the gap .

danielf....didnt realise you had aircon, that changes stuff

on mine (non aircon) i put the front wheels onto my levelling ramps, took the fan assembly off, undo the hoses, remove both rad top mounts (they will probably need replacing) and that gives just enough room to lift the radiator up and out of the lower rubber mounts on the crossmember which now means the radiator is free to go downwards and out from under the van
I would take the grill off and have a look at the condition of the crossmember before you start, at best it might need a wirebrush and paint, at worst there wont be much of it left
inspect your new radiator as well as there are some aftermarket ones without the captive fixings to secure the fan assembly

The OP did not state whether 'C' Class or 'A' Class body, nor did others.

I had my radiator replaced in France last year on N&B Arto(2003) 'A' Class. They did not lift it as they did it outside in the yard and I think dropped the rad down, because access up through the 'bonnet' is not good. I did not watch because I know it irritates the hell out of workers to have the owner leaning over their shoulders.

There was a lot of discussion about which rad for a 2003 Ducato, so I was very relieved when it was delivered to hear them say that is the one.

I think they billed 3-4 hours, but of course being France there was a good break for lunch. The estimate for supply and fit was about right, but apparently in France they do not include the 20% VAT in the estimate.

Anyway a good job done and we were mobile.
