Evening everyone, can anyone clarify for me the timings regarding a pre departure PCR test?. Is the test recorded as having been taken when you physically do it Or is it recorded when the result is made available on the providers website?.
Thanks all.

We did an antigen (LFT) test at a pharmacy. Results were available within 15 minutes. The test had to be done within 24 hours of travel.

Previous replies correct BUT PCR is not LFT [sorry if I am crashing threads but I am becoming obsessed re this.]
If you need a PCR test Sundance there are very different rules to the LFT and I think they have to be done in person at a test centre or pharmacy and they are much more expensive .... and need to be booked at some places .... good luck !

Here is the officlal UK Gov page:

The Antigen test referred to is also known as a Lateral Flow Test. You can do it from 48 hrs pre departure - and you can buy them on line. They are delivered to you by next day post, you take the test and put the test strip with a hopefully negative result on a card that confirms the serial number and has a QR code on it. Send a photo of that to the suppliers and they will send you a certificate back by email.

Are you considered fully vaccinated ie 2 x jabs one booster or the 2 solo jabs that count as same ( explanations of this on French gov the websites) and over 12 ( don’t ask!!)
if so and only going to France you need a independent ( not done at home with nhs test kit)lateral flow test ( LFT) which you can do 48 hours MAX before you cross. Cheapest -by postal service delivered to you -Simplytestme on net - other tests available. They send you test you take it and pic of negative result in correct time send pic of this to them they email you certificate which you use.
if not vaccinated or going to eg USA you do need PCR test - very different . Lots of other threads on here about travel and testing .

I fly tomorrow and have bought a Randox LF test which I will do today. Apparently it's not necessary any longer for Greece for the fully vaccinated but I'm going to do it anyway just in case I come across any officious officials. Good to hear that Randox are reliable and quick.
