Just bought new power washer for cleaning drives etc. I saw a guy cleaning his van and cars with one the other day. Mine has several attachments, one for cleaning fluids. Any tips for using it on the motorhome or shouldn't I bother?

You need to be very very careful if you're going to use it as it could damage joint sealant, get into various vents, etc.

Always use mine on all my vehicles. I have the attachment for foaming.

Nothing wrong with a power washer. Just don't get too close with the nozzle. If you do, you have a good chance of doing damage to seals.

If you are not going to drive the vehicle for a while I would try to keep the water off the brake discs to stop them corroding.

Don’t do it. Too easy to get it wrong i.e. put too much pressure on a vulnerable place.

Softly softly catch a monkey

Take care around the decals.

What's the point in washing the motorhome?

It'll be filthy again by the time you can use it again and anyone can see it!

I use my Worx Hydroshot pressure washer on the ‘van - I specifically bought the Hydroshot because, being battery-powered, it’s not as powerful as mains washers, so I’m confident that it will not do any damage (unless I hold it really close to the seals or vents!). As it is not tethered by a mains lead, I can also get into those awkward places (Ooohh, Matron!) relatively easily especially with a 2 litre bottle screwed onto the washer wand in place of the usual hosepipe.......

these were on special with Amazon a month or do ago and I was tempted...how does it perform? How long do you get run time on the battery?

Very happy with the results on the MH - and I’ve just power-washed the patio and paving around the house (I must be bored!), which now look really clean....ready for the hedgehogs and birds to cr*p all over them!
The run time with a 2Ah battery is about 30 mins continuous- obviously much longer with intermittent use, but I’ve got 5 batteries to use as I have a couple of other Worx tools (drill and lawn-mower), so I can swap them out and charge as necessary.

The garage that does the service and MOT on our cars and the Rienza always pressure wash them before we collect them. I noticed the guy doing the pressure washing stood quite a long way back trying not to get to wet so hopefully we shouldn’t have a problem.

I pressure wash the car and I've taken some paint away from above the windscreen. Don't really care about the car though. I care more about my van, even though I've only just started converting it. Dad suggested washing the outside of the van today while I wait for building materials and I immediately decided not to use the pressure washer on the van!

Stand further away......?

I can second the Hydroshot, use it on my bikes to get the worst off without blasting the living daylights out of it. On our MoHo I use A gentle jet wash then brush with hose attachment on all bar the plastic windows and vents and wheels (separate old brush for the wheels) and rinse off with either the hydroshot or jet wash, but i have a nozzle for the jet wash that spreads the spray and reduces the power considerably. It also has tanks to add cleaning fluid. There are some brush attachments for jet washers but just check the bristles are soft. Stiff bristles can scratch. For the habitation windows a soft cloth and very clean water.

My Karcher pressure washer has a variable pressure trigger, so over the last 20 or so years, I've used it on loads of things including my classic race motorbikes - never had a problem

Do it, but be sensible, would be my advice

Been looking on EBay can’t see one with a liquid bottle on it. I have a big Karsher but the lance hose is so stiff I could never get it on the roof. Would love a jet washer with a separate water container and battery powered ( I have DeWalt power tools) so that I could add detergent and do the roof. I can manage the rest. With extending brush and rinse as I go then leather it.

With the hydroshot you can Do just that. Amazon sell them. Pop one in your watched items and keep an eye on the price. Every now and then they drop the price. Got mine for about £85. My jet wash is a greenworks I think (can check tomorrow) bought from Home Bargains about 4/5 years ago and it’s been very reliable.

I just bought the Aldi one that's on offer for £75 it arrived the other day, still in box and haven't checked it but it does seem to have a separate on board tank .

Here’s mine, has 2 soap tanks. Big dial in the centre to select either tank or just water straight from the hose.
