Just had a conversation with CAZ helpline and found out our motorhome falls in the HGV category and will be charged £50.00 each way to get too and from the ferry terminal at Portsmouth as there is no way to get there without entering the CAZ. I just don’t understand why they are going to penalise every hgv and van using the port? Crazy in my opinion.

The ferry port is outside the area unless you intend to drive through the city centre from the sea end.
I was referring to Brittany Ferries terminal but you may mean the IoW one one Gosport which are insid3 the zone

Not according to them……

Hi Paul,

I'm afraid the ferry terminal is in the the Clean Air Zone.

So if “Magdelana” from the CAZ helpline is correct it’s £50 in and £50 out. I’m now contacting BF to see if they have any info about wether or not their terminal is in the zone..

I’ve had a look at that map but it seems that you have to go into the CAZ to get to the terminal
No you don’t, you turn off the motorway before it starts I checked as I needed to know.

They are sods in Portsmouth. I got a ticket there a few months back for wandering into a bus lane whilst trying to find the bloody signs for parking for the historic dockyard:mad:

Hopefully Paul Badknee you can get to the terminal without entering the zone.

It seems bonkers if you can’t.

I explained exactly where I wanted to get to and exactly where I was coming from, what motorway I would be using and was told I would have to pay.
The M25 and both north and south circular roads are toll free so a direct journey to the terminal seems a bit harsh. We shall see.

CAZ map on here shows cross channel ferry port outside the zone
I told her I wanted the Santander ferry not cross channel.

One 'advantage' [if such it is] of driving to the Channel Ports is that they are pretty much all within a range of 485-510 miles. So we can cross Portsmouth off the list and aim for Newhaven
