Pop-up in shower

Morning all I have a new in 16 Hymer with a pop-up Hiki in the shower compartment and it appears to have an in between compartment that it is impossible to clean has anybody come across this problem solution please thanks in advance . Barrie

That sounds like the one above my washroom. There is no obvious way to take the flyscreen off to clean it.

I've thought about going on the roof and using a handheld vacuum cleaner with a short flexible hose attachment. Haven't tried it yet.

If it's the same as mine (Fiamma from memory) look closely at the lower surround and you'll see eight small screw cover caps. Four of them have a very small slot in the side in which a small jewellers screwdriver or similar flat blade can be inserted to prize them out. Remove the four screws beneath them and the flyscreen can be lowered out of the frame. It's a couple minute job to remove, clean and replace once you know how it works.

You don't need to remove the other four caps. I suspect that are for the screws fixing the surround frame.

Thank you but it’s not the fly screen the fly screen drops down and leaves two levels of plastic with an in between that can’t be cleaned I’m sure there’s a way Barrie

A picture might help as we're all guessing what your heki looks like at the moment. If it is the Fiamma, the lower plastic section of the roof cover has an offset hole for a fan as it's the same cover on the fan and non fan versions. Stuff a damp rag in it and push it around, tie a damp rag onto the end of some flexible tubing (I keep a length of sheathed bicycle brake cable outer tubing for various jobs like this) or use a bottle brush with a long flexible handle.

Hi, it sounds the same as mine and if so its an inbuilt ventilation path due to being above the shower the best I have managed is to blow it out using our vacuum cleaner (we can put the hose on the outlet) not 100% but does a pretty good job.

The covers are held by 4 torqx screws, with the thin driver you can remove them through the holes in the handles.

Hymer don't you Hiki AFA, it's probably an MPK they are fairly easy to take apart to clean. From memory (not had a van with one for over 5 years). You unscrew the handles, then you can remove the the opening cover and unscrew the two halves to clean it.
