poor radio reception

I have a Bessacarr 435 , the radio is loud and clear when the engine is not running but can't use when engine running, told that Fiat/Swift put the aerial
in the passenger side wing mirror, any one got any ideas to improve reception.

Do you have any electric cables off sat nav or camera anywhere near your radio? If you have, fit ferrite beads to the cables.

What exactly prevents you from using it when the engine's running?
Fading? Interference? Low volume? Sound breaking up?

You might find that the aerial is not actually connected to the radio, bit of poking around may help. Not uncommon in conversions - and yes the aerial is in the nearside mirror, put there to avoid interference I believe.............

not noticed an increase in the interference when increasing the engine revs

You could fit a wing mounted aerial at least then it would have a ground plane.
Better still fit a roof mounted aerial with a ground plane.
