My Granddaughter has some Peppa Pig ones she may part with. A bit pink, but they work ok 😀

Worked when we were kids….😀

We've got a set of motorala extreme's which we've used for the last few year's without issue - use them when travelling in convoy with the brother in law and at festivals where they come in especially handy when phone signals are pretty poor.

One aspect that I really like is that they are usb rechargeable, so can recharge overnight after use.

I've also got some higher powered beofen's, but at more than 1/2watt output they aren't legal to use on pmr.

I'd say a set with the full 16 channels, with rechargeable batteries and a digital display and you'll be OK

Err. If you have only one walkie talkie your either walking or talking but not both!

Because the legal restrictions on pmr radios are highly specific there is not much to choose between any of them. They are all restricted to 0.5w ERP so the range of all is similar, some just claim more optimistic range than others. Baofeng do some good rechargeable ones but make sure they are sold as PMR , they also do very similar programmable ones 400-470Mhz which can be programmed to pmr but are not legal as the antennae are interchangeable.

How far are you expecting to be able be apart when using them and what kinds of environments will you plan to use them most in?

I prefer to use radios when travelling in convoy - you can very easily point something out over the radio, whereas a phone needs you dial, answer and both be in mobile coverage.

As said above, PMR446 radios are license free and much of a muchness, as they are limited by law to 0.5W and fixed antennas of certain performance. Their performance isn't great, you can get qualities from toys to rugged "professional" grade.

I prefer Business Radio Light radios; PMR449. You need a license, which is trivial to get - you can have one as a family, doesn't need to be a business, and you can throw radios to anyone and they can operate under your license. Costs £60 for 5 years.
The radios are limited to 5W (10 times the power), and you can have external aerials - so you can put one on the roof of your vehicle and get far better range.

They do cost a bit more though - for example https://radioswap.co.uk/tritan-buis...wo-way-radios-g-shape-earpieces-twin-pack-new is £160 for two. I prefer to buy second hand proper professional radios and program them; for example these are great as mounted sets in vehicles (programmed to be within legal power limits) - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/31176557...d=link&campid=5338547443&toolid=20001&mkevt=1

Not far and well within the range of most that have been suggested. The other use will be by my OH as she guides me into the pitch etc.

I've had several and use others for work. None of those claiming 5 or 8km range appear to do anything like that... They struggle even at 1km in open range.

They are rebadged Baofeng so the identical item may be available cheaper.

They seem to have gone up a lot since I bought mine for £5 .

It does not mention on this item whether you are free to use or need a communication licence, any ideas anyon
