Hello funsters, we are currently planning a 3/4 week tour of UK from Mid June.
We are Based in Spain hence the question?
Working our way from Portsmouth to South Wales (Swansea) then Manchester area and on to Lakes and Falkirk up to Inverness then back to Aberdeen and Edinburgh and south towards Harwich.
I have spent hours looking at Search for Sites and Park 4 Night and there are many places including pubs that we could overnight at, however when i look into them further very very few have fresh water, or Black or Grey waste facilities.
It’s all very well touring and stopping over but every 2/3 days we need to service the van I am having trouble finding such places ? Unless i join one of the 2 big clubs which are expensive? What do you lovely people do ?
We are happy to pay overnight but within reason or if we have to take a meal in a pub as long as they have services most do not from what i can see?
Help and suggestions please? Mick

I find a campsite every third or fourth night usually does the trick.
Water can often be found at garages and other places but dumping grey and black is often more tricky in UK.
I don't like dumping black waste down public toilets but I'm sure some do.

If you join the camping and caravan club then a number of their sites allow you to just pull in and use the facilities for a few hours for a small fee (£6 I think) that includes washing, showers etc.

We have to dump a black tank every now and then and it is the only reason I keep up the membership. As you say, staying on club sites is expensive.

You might also want to look at Britstops which will give you loads of places round the UK for free nights and costs less than £30 for the book

I would also suggest join the camping and caravanning club. Sub £40. Then look at local rallies, meets and temporary holiday sites. Ideal for a pop in overnight stays without booking and you will have access to water and dump. Should be a bit going on all over the country at that time of year. The have an app "out and about" very handy.

Ref black tanks you may have to use the site facilities for that.

Also, if you want to easily find the saes with Motorhomne Stop Overs the really easy way to do it is to download their app where there is a specific filter for those sites

I think your best bet is to join one of the 2 main clubs for around £40. This will give you access to their 5 unit small sites. There can vary from around £7 to about £15.
Otherwise I think you may find it quite stressful finding places and, although there are pubs which allow overnighting, you are correct in saying mostly no facilities for emptying and filling with fresh water and you are expected to spend money in the pub. Meals and drinks will be more expensive than you are used to in Spain.

If you are not used to touring in U.K. it will be harder just finding parking spaces in the day, there are lots of height barriers to public car parks and many privately owned car parks from supermarkets to motorway services restrict stopping to 2 or 3 hours.
If touring in U.K., I like to be able to sort out a suitable and safe nighttime stop at some time during the day by ringing up a site.

I think with a combination of C and CC Club motorhome stopovers where you can just use the facilities for £7 for a few hours plus Britstops for some good freebies, maybe the odd wild camp and certificated sites from the C and CC you should be able to keep your costs pretty low overall
