We have just got back from the above event so if you fancy it you will have to put it in the diary for next year, loads of car and bike clubs showing their vehicles,

Some folk didn't want to pay so dropped it by parachute ;)

Loads of nice cars,

This one is supposed to be making 2,800 bhp:love:

IMG_1114 (1).jpegIMG_1108.jpeg

They set up a drag strip and small circuit so the guys could give some of the race cars, bikes and carts a run out(y)

A bit of a Petrol head type event I guess but the girls enjoyed it as well as there were some vintage clothes shops:LOL:

Home made caravan,

IMG_1121.jpeg

There was some vintage flying but not a lot to be honest, we did get a Hurricane fly past,

We camped with one of the DA's of the Caravan and Motorhome club but they quickly showed their roots when we turned up plus a 9.4m Concorde, "it's too big, you should have told us, you will block the fire break" they did have 6 metres in between rows, apart from the attitude and then being relocated to overlook the elsan point, toilets and generator we had a great time (we turned the generator off) to the gratitude of others around us.

Oh and Nigel Sundowners we found your old Flair pulling a trailer with a V8 A60 pick up drag car, still going strong and bought from the guy you sold to apparently.

jongood you would love this, GT550, RG500's on the track E types in the show, 3 x GT40's ;)

Sounds right up my street. Deffo will watch out for it.

Love the home made caravan from a jet engine.

I like these smaller motorsport events where you can wander into the pits and talk to drivers and mechanics, everybody was really friendly and more than happy to talk about their cars, like the guy with a Fiat 126 with Toyota MR2 engine in it or the drag kart with a 1000cc bike engine and a lotus supercharger, all home built.

The organisers of the show have their own camping in a field over the road but it was very bumpy with long grass and tight pitches, the Hertfordshire DA of the Caravan club had a nice flat field next to the show and the usual Caravan club spacing so loads of room, even though they gave us a hard time

There used to be dancing to a swing band at the club on Saturday nights, is that still happening?

PS. Both clubs and the Classic Caravan Club used to have areas there too.

Didn't wander down Saturday night but I think so, it hasn't happened for the last few years of course and one of the drivers said it was going down hill before that but he thought that they had upped their game this year and he would be there again.

Wow. looks great, whats in the Renault 5GT Turbo to warrant the extension Martin? and did they ru n the vw pickup?

I was there on the Saturday with the Porsche club, great event👍 The VW camper was road legal with a 2.0lt air cooled engine in the back, it weighs 3 tons😳. The Merlin engine is only used on track ,it was run creating a lot of smoke, flames and noise, not given full throttle as track too short. My neighbour was running his sit up and beg Ford pop ( with small block Chevy engine😂) said they were not that pleased with the jet engine running as it is fuelled by a diesel mixture that leaves the track greasy. Nice social event, if you take youngsters be prepared to pay, rides we’re expensive as well as food and drink. Tray of chips £5 pint of beer £6.60, but always going to be costly with captive audience. Not sure how much entry cost is , I only had to pay £5 for the weekend as displaying my car

It's the Turbo2 so followed on from the homologation run of 400 cars for group 4 rallying, rear engined and rear wheel drive, what's with the wing and extension on the tailgate I am not sure, yes I think the VW ran but we missed it.

Pity we missed you ;) nice show of cars though, there was a Porsche speedster but fibreglass kit car but looked nice all the same, is that why the jet didn't run on the Sunday?

Yes, I think it didn’t run on Sunday because they had to throttle back the engine due to the length of the track, so probably more emissions and hence contaminating track. I know my neighbour had a close call when the guy he was against on Saturday went sideways after the start

Yes there was somebody got it a bit rallycross I think but I only heard the commentator commenting on the save as it was a bit too busy to see all the track.

Lounge and dining at the front with window view, kitchen was at the back.

I see that cowling has had a couple of bird strikes.

Can anyone identify from which engine that cowling comes?

Does the heating/cooking run on Jet A1 ?

Yep we were there too
Lovely event until the weather turned on Saturday afternoon, thunderstorms blew a fence on the parked cars and everything got a complete soak, hail and gusty winds
They cancelled Sunday and we were home by lunch time today (Sunday)
Despite the weather I will be going back 😊
