I’ve one of the small 12v ‘Velleman’ PIR 416’ motion detectors - I can’t figure out where the wires go- specifically wire Y & wire Z - what is the circle icon with a cross in it ?

A lamp, usually

I can’t figure out where the wires go- specifically wire Y & wire Z

Y goes to 12V ground

Z goes to the load that you want to switch with the PIR (other side of load also goes to 12V ground)

(X is 12V supply, but I think you knew that!)

The circle with the x is the load. A light in all probability. Negative connects to Y and positive connects to X.

Brilliant ! I knew you’d come up trumps - ‘leccy stuff isn’t my strong point & although only 12v I didn’t want to blow anything up, many thanks to you all.
