Just looking
Looking to buy a 2014 G600l , while reading reviews , found one in which the owner statdd the build quality was appaling. Anyone else has any thoughts on this ?

We’ve got the 2016 G600L Essential. We didn’t buy it new so we can’t speak for its condition from the start but we’ve had no problems.
For a small van there is a great use of space, comfortable bed, flexible lounge and spacious bathroom/dressing room and useful storage in the shed - it’s not as big as a garage.
Our niggles are minor issues, the wardrobe can be very cold in deepest winter. The bikes have to live outside on the rack.
It’s certainly a van we plan to keep for a long time. We’ve made some changes to reflect this but we have no issues at all about build quality.

Thank you sounds like you are happy with it , may just be the 2015 van has problems or that guy was just unlucky is it double floored ? And warm in winter ?

We have a 2017 G650L. Pretty happy with the build quality.

There is a double floor with excellent underfloor storage at the back of the van and more limited cubby holes in the living quarters. Winter use is fine, note what I said about the wardrobe. The bed is cosy but let it air for a while before use, condensation can gather on the ceiling and the timer means we always get up to a warm van.

I wanted a G600L, but couldn't find one at the time. The Roller Team Pegaso 590 is a similar layout. As is the Geist i585, which we ended up getting in the end. Very happy with it, solid build.

I have a 16 reg 600L and find the build quality slightly flimsier than my previous two Hymers but nothing stops me loving it.
As said previously here the wardrobe area can be very cold in winter and l would recommend buying a windscreen cover for colder nights.
Very happy with this van and no intentions of changing it 👍

Thank you for your advice there doesn't seem to be anything too negative wrong with the van.

Additional thought here, we found the mattress a little to thin so we now have a mattress topper 👍

No problem with my G720
It’s double floored for winter use
Truma 6e keeps it very warm

Previous Motorhome was a P650 which was also very reliable

We have a 2019 700gj, found it well built and solid, good payload. You will always find people are willing to post negative comments but forget to post positives. This is our 8th motorhome and it's certainly the best build quality.

I know the bigger Pilote a-classes are all Al-ko chassis with double floors. Is the G600L? The P600 appears to be the Fiat chassis.

I think it is a Fiat chassis. This will be our second van first was a hymer classic, looking to down size now .

We quite like the look of the Pilote Aclass and coachbuilts as they have a great range of layouts and the big attraction to us is the better than average payloads on them. As regards reliability its the luck of the draw. We have friends who have paid a lot of money for the so called superior Foreign models and they have all had quality problems of some sort. Even a Rolls Royce can fail to proceed!

I don't think payload is so much of an issue with a 6m van that has sleeping for 2 and no garage. Even with a 3.5t limit, we've got over 700kg on our Geist. I'd struggle to get close to that unless I started packing the lockers with bags of concrete.

In terms of the layout. We're very happy with it. The huge lounge is great. We've been camping with friends and family and ended up with 8 people seated on cold and rainy evenings. My wife and I have also 'worked from home' in it a few times with laptops without getting on each others nerves (although the seats aren't as all-day comfortable as an office chair). We've got tons of inside storage, but I would like a bit more external locker space (the Roller Team has a slightly bigger rear locker that swallows two Brompton bikes) and I would have liked the table to fold like the Pilote does. But the build quality of the Geist is very good (if a little brown).

Confused with payload on this van would you still be able to take electric bikes ?

580kgs payload on the 3500kgs set up can upgrade to 3700kgs if you have the C1 licence its just a paper exercise, how heavy are the bikes, around 50kgs for two, 100kgs for water. 100kgs for fuel plus 150 for people so still got 180kgs to play with! or 380kg of upgraded!

With vans with these layouts, I think the payload is plenty. There's no garage to fill up, which is where most people pile on the lbs. There are lots of reasons for staying under 3.5t.
