A motorhome parked outside a house at Stove in Sandwick has been destroyed by fire.

Crews from Sandwick and Lerwick were called to the scene at about 11.20am on Sunday. They were able to extinguish the fire using two main hoses, a hose reel and two breathing apparatus.

According to fire and rescue service control centre in Dundee the incident was over by 11.50am and there were no reports of any injuries

Any indication of the cause ?

Nothing so far Ken.

There was also a motorhome fire in Shetland this time last year so the motto of the story is don't go in March

Two jets AND a hose reel. Bit of overkill. Were the crews trying to flood it aswell as put the fire out ....

Probably needed in case the neighbouring buildings caught alight.

Old transit - self build van by any chance?

I follow a couple of groups on Facebook and it's frightening what some of them "think" is the right way to build them

A very good point indeed - I bet there's some right dodgy stuff out there masquerading as motorhomes.

I wonder how much it was insured for cynical or what

Still sad to see someone's pride & joy going up in smoke.
