In my diesel powered car, when I put in my ignition key the warning lights come on briefly, but all but the 'check engine' light go out within seconds.

I'm my Peugeot Boxer based motor home the battery and oil pressure lights also stay on before engine start. Is this a problem?

Depends how old the boxer is but that sounds normal for an older vehicle it's what they do on mine and that's a 2000 its they stay on after the engine is running that you need to worry about

Both the battery and oil light should be on with the ignition on and go out when you start up, as has been said if either of these come on when the engine is running you would have problems.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I should have said in my original post that it's a 2008 registered motor home, but I believe the Boxer chassis may have been built in 2007.

I fully appreciate that until the engine is running the oil pressure won't build, and the alternator won't start charging the battery. It was just the discrepancy in comparison to my (2014) diesel car, where both those lights do go out almost instantly, before the ignition key has been turned and the engine started, that made me concerned.

I’ve a 2006 diesel Pug Boxer. I’ll conform lights later today.
I know when I turn on the ignition all the lights come on initially, then I wait for the coil light to go out before starting the engine, but can’t 100% recall what the other lights do 🤪

I’d expect handbrake & a couple of tbc to stay on (oil & battery) & some to go off tbc

I think you will find that the lights coming on and then going off on your car is a check of its systems by its ECU and the check engine light is to say there is a fault with any one of these if it stays on when started and driven.
My 2015 Peugeot Boxer van is the same as yours, , when battery and oil lights only go out when running. The rest of the lights having been through a self checking test ,when ignition is turned on, before going out.

Tested. It’s as we’ve described above

Edit. I like how you can see me turn the key
