Hi all,
I have a question regarding travelling with our pet to England, in our RV. Can the EU Pet Passport be issued by one vet and the rabies vaccine section be filled in and signed by a different vet, and the tapeworm treatment section by yet another vet?
Thanks,
Bert

I can't see how you can issue a pets passport without filling in the rabies section. Ok for other vets to fill in tapeworm treatment section. It will depend on your country's rules, but vet filling in pets passport can use rabies vax done by anther vet if there's some sort of acceptable certificate that the vax was done.

A different vet can fill in the rabies section, when the next jab is given. As long as it’s an EU vet.

Sorry yes in subsequent years a different vet can do rabies section. But on initial pets passport issue I can't see how the passport can be issued without the rabies section being completed.

On the Animal Health Certificate Facebook group (which has some useful info from those that have actually obtained EU pet passports but also a lot of confused ramblings from others) there has been mention of getting a passport issued in Spain but then getting the rabies vaccine given in France. This is because it is easier to get a passport issued in Spain (no residency issues, I-cad registration issues, etc that are emerging in France) but Spain generally only provides 1-year rabies vaccines whereas 3-year vaccines are easily obtained in France. Maybe this is what the OP has in mind?

But surely the easiest way is to get the rabies vacc in France first (no pets passport) then go to Spain and get pets passport using French rabies details.

Oh, that's great, thank you for the answers! Aireworth wrote that "but vet filling in pets passport can use rabies vax done by anther vet if there's some sort of acceptable certificate that the vax was done."... does this include "acceptable certificate that the vax was done" outside of Europe recently?

It seems to be quite a minefield/lottery as to what different vets in different countries will/won’t can/can’t do.

Very true. And sad. Given that so many people are travelling across Europe it should all be much easier.

Ah well, you'd have to ask the vet doing the PP, I suspect. What are the details of the vaccine you're considering?
