We came back from Dieppe to Newhaven on Friday night 6pm crossing. Didn't realise until on ferry that they had stamped Sunday's date in both our passports meaning we have lost two Schengen days. Was anyone else on the ferry? Did they stamp your passport wrong? What if anything can we do about it?

Can’t help about the stamp but we’ve missed you again Dennis, we’re heading to la marina Tuesday.

Maybe your ferry company could produce a document confirming the date and time of your return from France. I have no idea if that would carry any weight when dealing with the passport office but it should be a good place to start.
I would suspect that everyone who came in through that passport control has the same problem as the date stamp would have been incorrectly changed on or soon after midnight Thursday/Friday and maybe it has continued to be incremented day one day ever since!

Good look.

Surely it’s the computer records they use? Or do they have to count the days on every stamp on everyone’s passport?

When they started stamping them again, mine was stamped with no ink, next time passing into france got a funny look then a Gallic shrug and allowed through!

Not quite the same but in 2023 in Calais we got to the UK Border Control when I noticed my passport hadn’t been stamped. The UK guy said I’m not worried but if you are take the first left at the next roundabout and you’ll be back in France!! I then went through the ferry check in again, then French customs and duly got my passport stamped. Mrs B obviously got a second stamp!! Seemed odd but it worked.
