camping and caravanning since a kid. New to motorhomes
Hi All,

Has anyone previously part exchanged a car when buying a motorhome. I know quite a few dealers say they will take almost anything in part exchange. However, I was wondering whether a realistic and fair price is offered ?

I traded in the car and the caravan on the first motorhome we bought from Marquis, at the time 2015 the price offered was competitive.

I traded in a B class Merc at MDG (Three Counties?) in Poole in 2010 as they gave me a better price, £9000, than my local Merc dealer. It was on sale at the Mercedes dealers in Poole a week later marked up at £13,999.

Get a price of them but then try all the places that just buy cars off you. We are just ordering my wife a new car, we looked 12 months ago and her car was worth £22,000 we have now been offered £29,250 for it the second hand market is mad.

As has been said already, the market is mental at the moment.
Just sold a Hyundai Tucson to a dealer. Bought 4 years ago for 16k.
Drove for 4 years, sold for 14k, now on forecourt for £17999.

Traded in a Range rover sport for our first Autotrail Apache 634 17 plate...More than happy with the out come .

Regards Kev

They gave me the same as webuyanycar but I could drive it to pick up the new to us Moho so saved hassle of trains etc

thanks everyone for the advice and responses.

It seems that the prices offered are reasonable. Just weighing up a few options thats all. Coupled with convenience too,

Yes I have also noticed, along with motorhome prices, that of cars (and motorbikes) are higher than expected.

cheers folks
Graham

Check out large car dealers... a few around here also do "we buy any car" type schemes. Not trade ins.. you don't have to buy from them.. last car Evans Halshaw gave me a reasonable price... slightly better than We Buy Any Cars quoted.

Better than we buy any car is
Motorway.co.uk
They put your vehicle into a one day auction to the trade.
The numbers on our old car.
Dealer supplying new car offered us £18250

We buy any car £19750 - £650 for stone chips and admin charges.

The car made £20750 at the auction, no fees, but be honest about the condition of the car.
That was £2500 more than the dealer offered.

I sold the car and caravan when I bought a PVC.

The best guaranteed offer for the car came from Cazoo. They even collected it, so no hassle apart from taking some photos and describing it accurately. The money was in my bank before the transporter reached the end of the drive. I got £2k more than the dealer offered. And about £1k more than the webuyanycar opening offer. 5-year old Kia Sorento.

Part of the reason I didn't want to trade the caravan with the dealer, was that they said they'd do essentially a habitation service, and adjust their offer accordingly. It felt I was being held too much to hostage on the day I should be focused on checking my new campervan out. When a caravan buyer offered £1250 more than the dealer's PX offer it became a no-brainer.
