Thus is a genuine FB group for posting pictures of stupid parking.

An interesting one popped up the other day.

What do you think - deserving of criticism? Anyone here own that van?

Sometimes "we" are our own worst enemies, but ..... more info is needed here. The door is open so maybe the driver is there, ready and willing to move if needed. It looks, from the small amount of parking seen, that there are plenty of vacant spots.

I will often be with the van like that, whilst SWMBO grabs a few things- for a few minutes. I don't see the harm if other spaces are avilable and the supermarkets never have any large bays set aside.

Looks to me like they have parked as far away from the shop as possible so no real harm, I would have done the same but possibly a little further forward. I believe they are in the bit with the dark colour car next to the trees and the main road.

If he's spending money in store he's entitled to park like that if no provision has been made for larger vehicles. Just jealousy I reckon.
Or what go face on in one space and leave his arse hanging out into traffic.
Not a TW4T

Tbh...the FB group are probably a bunch of TW4TS

No large parking bays in that car park I used it in the summer when staying at the show ground camp site just along the road always plenty of spaces available.I had to take up 4 spaces as well 😉

Keep on looking, wait and see if he gets his chairs and table out, maybe a bit tight for an awning roll out though.:giggle:
I am sure many of us have had to park in a similar way when we go shopping on our hols with the motorhome, but park further away from the entrance to allow others without Blue Badges to use the disabled spots near the entrance.:swear:
Its all about being considerate to those less fortunate.

That is my pet hate, why do MH owners feel they are entitled to take so many spaces up?,
Just find a space with a grass verge to overhang and park properly please 🥴
Do they not realise that they are just causing issues for other Motorhomers.

Easier said than done with a larger van and if the car park is empty cannot see an issue.

It's blocking 4 spaces when it only needs to take 3 - I'd say pull forward or back even if there are more spaces available elsewhere.

It's not about what's legal or right, it's about trying to avoid what annoys other people.
I'm an ex motorcyclist and people used to object to me filtering even though it's totally legal and I was told that I would fail my motorcycle test if I did not filter when it was safe to do so.
I'm a cyclist and people get annoyed at us riding 2 abreast, even though the Highway Code states that it's perfectly reasonable and legal to do so.

Sensibly they have not left enough space at the front so a car can not park in front of them so they have enough space to turn and get out of the space if someone parks directly behind.
If they had pulled forward as you suggest to the bay in front of them and somebody parks right behind them, how would you go about getting out of the space then?

How is he going to do that, he hasn't got any overhang.

If he does that you guarantee some pratt in a car will park right behind him and he won't be able to get out.

A lot of supermarkets don't provide overhang verges and rarely ones big enough for an 8M motorhome.

This way of parking with a long vehicle is perfectly acceptable in France, when only car length spaces are available. I see MHs parked like this all the time. Maybe not so popular in the UK where parking is far more difficult. It's hard to tell but is it LHD? If so, they may not realise it's a bigger issue in the UK?

Looks like lots of parking available. Who was disadvantaged?

I think any group who self-declare as moral guardians like these 'twat-spotters' will obviously find what gives them joy.

"Mistrust all in whom the impulse to punish is powerful."

If we need to go shopping while out and about which is rare ( to go shopping that is) I google the supermarket carpark and make sure it’s got space for us and then and only then will I go there. I never go in the shop and yes I take up four bays sidewards and no I can not park with overhang over grass. You try parking a nine metre motorhome like that. 😂
Me in a Tesco carpark taking up lots of space and the wife spending £150 in the shop. Don’t think Tesco mind and there were at least another hundred spaces in the carpark. 👍

That’s OK if you stay with the van so you can move if needed but it’s those that bugger off in a busy car park 😉

We once had a car driver complaining to us that my wife and I were taking up two parking spaces with our motorcycles in a carpark. Normally, if there’s a dedicated motorcycle bay we park there, next choice is to park both bikes in one bay. However, on this carpark it was pay per vehicle…… so we took up two bays. 🤷‍♂️

If they are in the van, then they can ensure no-one parks right behind them but in the meantime they are not causing so much offence and would perhaps avoiding getting their picture on a "parking like a tw4t" Facebook page.

The hedge at the front only covers half of the space, I think there would be enough room to leave even if someone parked behind them.
However, if you prefer not to have your front against the hedge, then I also suggested pulling back.

I wonder if the person who took the photo asked themselves where the motorhome owner could park? Surely it’s Tesco who should address the issue not some idiot on a cause.
If they are feeling righteous how about coming around where I live at school dropping off and collection times, you’d need plenty of storage in your camera or additional SD cards.
