Any suggestions for an overnight stop before an early morning tunnel (UK side) please

The Drum. About 1/2 mile from M20 J11. Good pub site and superb owners and restaurant. Avoid Tuesday night as getting through all the bikes in the lower car park might cause some delays!

I have no connection to this site other than going to the bike nights in the summer and enjoying a pint and occasionally a meal.

You beat me to it!! We always do the Drum if morning crossing, longish journey for us from the Midlands so always look forward to an easy night, decent food and a bevy. Game of cards in the pub with the kids bit of a tradition to get those holiday gaming juices going 😆.

We used The Farriers Arms near Ashford this trip, mind you dont leather your forehead on all the low beams of this 1600’s pub. Great food too!

I recommend you do NOT use Folkestone CCC site. Very narrow and steep hill to get down to it with potential to bottom out. We left early morning and the number of morons driving down to work nearly wiped us out was staggering. No, don't use Folkestone CCC.

Another one for the Valiant Sailor, good food & Beer and if you have time pop next door to the Battle of Britain Memorial. About 10 minutes drive from the Tunnel.

Only visited pub but looks a bit steep if you have a large outfit?

We’ve booked in at the CAMC Black Horse site for July, never stayed there but recent, post upgrade reviews seem ok. Any comments to the contrary would be appreciate.
cheers

Farthing Common car park. No facilities but a view to die for. No charge. I park there occasionally and only live 5 miles away!! Junction 11 M20 towards Canterbury (past The Drum) on B2048. It's 20 mins from Shuttle. Google earth it to see.

Great sharing with all the Polish Luton's also waiting to get on the Shuttle. 😉

The petrol station a couple of miles along Stone Street towards Canterbury is usually cheapest in the area...

we found the drum food mediocre at best
Another option for people wanting a pub is the Wagon and Horses on Faversham Road, Charing, off the A20. It is a bit further to the Tunnel but both the camping area and food are better - just my opinion of course.

Also, if wanting an alternative campsite to the Black Horse at Densole, the Chequers at Selsted is just a bit further up the road.
