I've parked up overnight at Port Solent, Portsmouth many times while waiting for a ferry, with no issues.
We have some friends who are arriving off the ferry at approximately 20.00- 21.00 Sunday night. They are in a car and caravan. I've suggested that perhaps they could overnight on the car park, given the time, rather than travelling to a campsite. They will be leaving early Monday morning.
Has anyone got any experience of this situation.

Ring the guys you book in with at the port, always found them pleasant and helpful. The number is available on search 4 sites.

Give them a bell, can only say yes or no😁

Hmm. As I was saying, I've stayed there many times and I didn't know there is a number you have to call. I've always stayed on the smaller carpark to the right. Do they come under different control?

There's a sign near the road adjacent to the pedestrian crossing with the details on.

I have never seen a caravan in the car parks but sometimes gypsies on the far side of the council owned fields opposite.
Probably best to contact prior to the date.

How easy is it to get from Port Solent to the dockyard to see the Mary Rose etc, also Gunwarf Quay using public transport ?
If non ,then what would be the approx cost of a taxi ?
Thanks.

Not to bad.
More of a 10 min walk than 18 I would say to the bus stop.

Just for information. Keep it under your hat.
Just phoned the office number, they were very helpful.
Yes that's ok but please keep the car and van coupled. They have had issues with "travellers "
Thanks to the contributions.

We often stop here to walk the dogs and have lunch after a trip away it is then only a 10-15 minute drive home.
Last time it was entertaining watching the travellers on the green opposite racing around on quads and pick up trucks they then decided to smash a VW Golf to bits😂😂
It won’t be long before they put height barriers on the car parks once they can no longer get onto the grass area☹️

I don't mean the Gypsies

Please be aware that Portsmouth now has a Pollution zone that has a requirement for payment, if your vehicle is a van or lorry or bus cars are OK. I do not know if Motorhomes have to pay. This area includes the ferries to France and the IOW.

Been discussed, you are ok for the France/Spain route it’s just the IOW that is in the Zone.
