overhead bed in hymer exsis sk

can any one help me with a problem I am having with my overhead bed in my newly aquired Hymer Exsis SK. I have turned the handle and the bed has moved down by gravity but I cannot lift it back up, the instructions are not helpful. This is a rare model, I am told, just hoping someone can help.
