Rainwater getting into the section above the cab. This happened 6 or 7 years ago and was dealt with by Becks at the time and was a poor seal on the caps where the sections join but it's happened again. No great problem as there is no contact with any timber up there and water escapes down the open pillars at the rear of the cab but it shouldn't be in there.

I imagine Sikaflex will do the job when I've removed the old stuff and cleaned up. Any suggestions or do I just buy the basic stuff?

Do you really want to use adhesive on the joints or just a non-setting sealant?

If the latter I've used this to replace \ freshen-up joints on ours.

Also heard good reports on Carafax Caraseal IDL99

Will a non setting sealant hold those caps in place, AFAIK there's nothing else to keep them there so would they move or slip eventually with the shaking and rattling on the road?

If you're looking to remove the "caps" that would be a different matter as you would need to use adhesive to re-adhere but if it's just resealing the joint non-setting would be fine.

When looking to reseal the joint caps on the roof of our AT I was advised that trying to get the caps off would be a nightmare and they would, most likely, have to be replaced so I over-sealed them with EternaBond tape. Not saying that's an acceptable solution for your job as the tape would be "highly visible".

I don't know what Becks did originally, they reckoned it was a factory botch and maybe the start of a new tube didn't join with the end of the old one leaving room for a leak. I'll need to get up there and see if there is anything obvious, it doesn't look as clean now as it did in that pic and may look a bit bulky with sealant if I go over the old lot. Watch this space. :giggle:
