Sunday, drove on through the pouring rain, to Salamanca, then on to Merida (Thank you @rosalan for the recommendation.) We had previously known nothing about Merida, but it has fantastically preserved Roman remains, and all the more atmospheric for being practically empty - plus the sun had come out by now.
Stayed two nights at Merida, before moving on to Seville, intending to stay two nights, but moved on after only one. It's a lovely place, with lots to see, but we're not really city people, so did the Cathedral and Giralda tower, then Plazza de Espana. Good aire by the bridge, within easy walking distance of the centre.
Currently at el Rocio, the quirky little town which is like something from the Wild West. We like it here - plenty of good walks, and lots of wildlife. Lovely beach at Matalascanas close by.
Sorry photos are in wrong order. The top one is el Rocio, then Matalascanas, then Merida!
