Fairly new to motorhome started early 2019
Hi, our first trip outside UK in our Hymer B514SL and all went really well travelling Plymouth Roscoff, right across France to Alsace, then to Champagne Region and finally back up to Caen for the afternoon return to Portsmouth on Sunday. All were welcoming and there were not too many Brits around and although France is on Holiday just now we didn't have any busy problems. Obviously you have extra things to be mindful of with Covid but we are all used to that now. We used the Avtex Tourer 2 which was really good and helped us avoid a 2.5 M high bridge in our 2.9M Hymer !!!!

Glad you had a good trip! (y)

We used those crossings last year but in reverse. Out Portsmouth to Caen back from Roscoff to Plymouth. We also didn't plan to go too far into France but eventually went further south than intended as the weather in northern France turned miserable. But there is much to see not far from the Channel. We are booked on the Roscoff ferry in September and are keeping our fingers crossed we will still be able to go.

I think Out Portsmouth and back Plymouth might be a better way because we got back 10.30pm and then had to drive all the way back on the A303 so maybe always have the easy ride coming home. We are still novices abroad and didn't stop anywhere isolated only on sites so next time will try to find some of the lovely looking Aires etc. that everyone seems to find
