We have some opposing life view points that may affect our motorhome/campervan lifestyle....

I am a responsive planner. If I have a plan and all the gear necessary, I am happy to deal with what life throws.

He is a fly by the seat of your pants, with just the card and chewing gum that happens to be in your pocket, kinda guy.

Coping mechanisms?

SWMBO is a real worrier even to the extent she worries about me not worrying.
I take it as it comes but plan the worst problems away if possible (but never worry about them).
You may have to plan to be more spontainious.

Serious shit hon... sorry to hear it x

I do spontaneous as required... As long as I have planned for it 😜

I have the same sort of problem Mrs pagey worries when she can't think of anything to worry about I on the other hand don't worry about things I can't do anything about

Do what you enjoy but understand that you cannot control everything and spontaneity can be fun and more rewarding than not doing it.

I lost my only son in 1989 to teenage suicide: I haven't worried about a single thing ever since...
Don’t quite know how you move on from this event. So sorry that you have had to endure this horrific loss and it’s clear why the abject pain of this event creates the perspective you have.

Buy him some of those builder type trousers with lots of pockets then he will have loads of chewing gum and cards so you have to worry about

Embrace your difference:giggle: Hubby and me are very different too. Holidays I plan, check, worry, check, plan, build lists, tick off lists, pack, check, worry. Hubby turns up and asks where are we going then.

Funny enough it’s only on holidays this applies as with everything else we are both equal planners. Hubby says it’s because holidays are supposed to be an adventure and we just need to go with it!

oh sorry, you asked for coping mechanisms. We both just do our own thing, I’m happy because I feel I am in control of what’s going to happen, and hubby happy as he just relaxes.

I have the opposite in a husband, be thankful for what you have. He is a complete worrier about what could happen and has he got everything to cover eventualities. He doesn’t do any planning, we would never go anywhere if up to him, but when I do arrange something, he needs to know everything in triplicate and in advance.

I'm not a worrier, but I am a planner. Hubby is a bit more spontaneous.
So I always have a day by day plan and check out potential aires, campsites and things to do and see.....I start planning months before we go and the plan changes multiple times. For me, the planning is all part of the holiday anticipation ;)
BUT.......we never stick to the plan
We'll stick to it for the first few days....that's the time we're just relaxing and enjoying not being at work....having a plan means we don't need to stress about making decisions. But after a few days we tend to look at the weather forecast and the maps and start deciding whether we'll stick with the plan or if we'll do something different. Sometimes we stick to it pretty closely, other times it gets totally thrown out of the window. Its worked out pretty well...some of the places I've found when planning have been wonderful....a few of which we return to year after year. But we've also found some fabulous places when we were winging it.

My wife does everything holiday wise including booking, worrying, putting the dates in my diary etc.

She used to do all my packing until an incident some years ago when we arrived in Tenerife to find that the only trousers she had packed for me were some old tatty gardening cords with holes in them

Despite an extensive search in the local shops the only replacement I could buy were these awful cream slacks that fat Greek men wear.

I do my own packing now

The adage that "You can't worry about something you can't affect" is logical and good advice but that doesn't stop me worrying about what the other buggers might do!!!

Perhaps he's a fly by the seat of your pants guy precisely because you've planned for every eventuality.

I just drop and go when the mood takes me, if I havent got a plan it soon forms when Im on the road :)
And so do I.
What's the worst that can happen?
I like surprises. When I was still working I used to make up two days' sandwiches at a time and then shuffle them before putting them in the fridge so that I'd not know which ones I'd be taking for my lunch. :giggle:

Given the current state of affairs, I woke up on the right side of the grass this morning, I have new batteries for the light at the end of the tunnel, all else will take care of itself and try as I might worrying over things never fixes them.

True, all the things I worry about very rarely happen, it’s the unexpected that knock you for six
