That 2nd video may well be me soon if anyone is following with dash cam. My step buzzer is only just about hanging on in there

And another

Done that when we had our PVC.
Drove all the way back from mid Wales in filthy weather. Took a couple of hours to clean all the crud and mud that it picked up along the way before I could get the dam thing to retract.

No, luckily our was only a single so did not stick out too far, it just hoovered up all the muck and mud thrown up from the front wheel.
It didn't help that we were coming back from WRC rally stages and initially travelled down 2 miles of wet muddy forest tracks to get back to the tarmac roads.

Easily done I guess
Similar happened to us on the Camping-Car Park Aire at Lion-sur-Mare.

On entering the Aire we had to stop for some children playing. As we set off the barrier came down on our motorhome roof and, as we moved forward, slid along the edge of the roof before falling between the motorhome and our bikes on the rack. Unlike in the video it did not, (maybe could not), retract.

We stopped but the barrier was bent and wedged into the top corner of our m/h. We couldn’t go forwards or back without risking damage to the motor home so we had to take the bikes off to free ourselves.

I must admit that if I had heard people laughing like those on the video I would not have been happy. As it was, a French couple who had seen what happened came across to help and then gave us a written statement of what had happened in case we had any problem with the company, as the barrier was extremely bent out of shape.

A phone call to the company gained an apology and the offer to pay for any damage to our unit. . Fortunately there was none but it could have been much worse.
