Not only are we broken down, I have now managed to lock my credit card which we may need to pay repair bill.
Have spoken to provider who tell me it can not be unlocked at their end but only at an ATM machine by using other services.
I have tried three Spanish banks and neither have this option available.
Any one know how this is done in Spain?
Campsite owner has spoken to his bank and they say it's down to my provider, I'm going from pillar to post.
Any help appriciated .

I have uk bank cards and one credit card for emergencies.
It's a capital one mastercard.
Capital one about as helpful as ****
Also talking to some one in Bangladesh don't help.

I can but like to have credit card for emergencies. I don't yet know what my repair bills going to be.

Other than bank transfers, the other if somewhat long winded solution, would be to set up a Starling or Monzo, or Revolut, or Wise (and there are several more) account.
Which you probably should have done before you left the UK in any case

It's an online bank.
It can be set up using a mobile phone
It's a bit of a palava, you will need to photograph your passport etc.
But it will get you set up inside 20 mins.

You then transfer money from your UK bank to the online bank.
The online bank has the advantage that you can then set up an additional account in Euros.
You transfer Pounds between the two new online accounts.
This has the advantage of having Euros bought at a rate when its good for you (you should have bought a few months ago! as the rate is crap now, and falling)

I guess the million dollar question is how soon, after setting up a new account, could you then pay out a large sum of money in Spain, I'm guessing it would be at least next 'working' day, and maybe a bit longer.

But if you start now, it means by early next week you could have a proper Euro account and not only pay for the repairs, but also everything else in Euro's. In the long term it will save you a lot of time, effort and money.

Just a thought,If you have online access to your credit card you may have a money transfer facility,therefore transfer monies to your debit card and use that.
With regard to unlocking the Credit card via ATM have you matched Visa or Mastercard to cashpoint?

Any chance of finding a main branch of Bank Santander ?
As they are also a major high street bank in the UK they are far more likely to be able to assist in unblocking your card.

open up an account with CHASE on your phone now, easy to do and you can use the card on your phone straight away, no charge for using it abroad either.......there really good

I think the one credit card IS the Capital One card which is the one which is locked.

If you are really, really desparate you could let me know how much the final bill is in € then I can work out how much that would cost to convert from £ to € you could then send me that amount by bank transfer in £ then give me the repairer's info and I could then pay the bill direct to the repairer's bank account online.

You'd have to trust me of course but I think many funsters would be happy to give me a 'good reference'!

the Santander branches I've used here offer no help at all with a Santander UK card or account. They actually stated that they were" a completely seperate company"

I have had a similar situation re credit cards when I inadvertently put the wrong pin code in 3 times. I need to go to a cash point machine and put the code in correctly to unlock the card. I wasn't told that it had to be any particular bank company? Good luck with it.

No probs ... just check that you won't get his with handling/conversion fees for using your bank account to pay or withdraw in euros, some charge quite a lot.
