Oh no! Boiler split. Help!

My 32 year old Burstner has a split boiler tank. Truma. I imagine it would be difficult to find a compatible tank to replace. Ancient original tank/boiler. The guy I went to said I could buy a new one and have adaptions made to make it fit. Cost in the region of £1,000. Eeeek. The motorhome is worth about £5,000. I love it and would like to put hot water system right. Help! Any ideas please?

I am pretty sure this can be fixed cheaper than the quoted price . Do you have a picture or model number please ?

How do you use the van, on sites with EHU? If so buy an electric one.

Have a look at www.olearymotorhomes.co.uk they have a few boilers/heaters in their self build section that are much cheaper and perhaps could be used as a a complete replacement

Well a new Truma Ulstrastore is about £500. Then it needs fitting. Do you have a picture, so we can see if there is something that will just slot in?

The older vans used identical truma boilers to caravans of the time. It would pay to find a scrap caravan to salvage the parts from. Most caravan dismantlers would not bother stripping a van that old

Yes a caravan scrap dealer would probably have one. I had one for 6 years until about 6 months ago when I scrapped it

bite the bullet and get a new one i had problems with mine and just stripping it down to get to the tank is a nightmare i will have a look in the garage see if ive still got the tank which was sound

Contact the Caravan repair centre NR Abergavenny,
They sorted me with a replacement boiler at a fantastic price.
Highly recommended.

A shot in the dark but I had an old van where the boiler cracked. The garage arranged to have it welded.
