We're heading for Oban today, first time in the area.

Are there any tolerated camping spots e.g harbour etc? If not we'll stay at Oban caravan park.

Karen

Ganevan bay seems to be tolerated in winter although there arena overnight signs in place. Maybe @obanvanman can advise better.

stopped at a site in duror between oban and fort william its a good site we stayed in april

Just seen this, you are probably there now. The esplanade in front of the hotels towards Ganavan is ok, Ganavan residents and council get upset at the beach. There are also a couple of MH allocated spaces in coach area at Tescos.
Beware of traffic wardens elsewhere in the morning, are now council employed and not police and are ruthless.
There are a couple of big lay bys on the Lochgilphead Road a couple of miles outside Oban past Kilmore alongside Loch Feochan that are perfect.
Let me know how you get on.

Kev.

Thanks Kev

Yes we got here earlier and pitched at the camp site. We'll look at those other places tomorrow as I'm sure we'll be visiting again.

its worth popping over the Conan ferry and stopping just about wherever you fancy

will be there ourselves in a couple of weeks, some of the best scenery in western Scotland over there

excepting Harris of course where we will also be visiting :)

In June we stopped overnight in the car park beside Tesco's ! there was 2 others there and 2 trucks, no hassele and we had a Tesco breakfast before we caught the ferry to Mull !!

Probably far too late now, but for info. Look at Angus Campbell in you tube. There are a lot around that area. We have just stayed at three great places and there are more around. Cuil Bay, Casaig Bay, Loch Creran, Ardgarten Parking.

Wish we'd seen that earlier @tjay noted for next time

Thanks @Zigisla we'll look at those today.

For info, the CP next to Tesco has 4 MH designated bays, free but full when we pulled in to look. One of the MH owners said if you park in a car or coach bay you're very likely to get a £60 ticket - as @obanvanman said, they're red hot. 2 got tickets yesterday.
