Hi Folks thanks for input on Battery, Belt & Tyres . . . . .

I dutifully followed your good recommendations and fitted the Varta LFD90 starter Batt.

Bit of a misnomer, cos now it won't start ! New Batt is turning engine over fine, but did not start despite a good 5 seconds on the key twice.

Did not want to flatten the brand new batt, so left it for today.

So my question = could a blown fuse be causing this, or some immobiliser needing reset etc etc ?
(key ring has a small black plastic device with two metal prongs on the front end - no idea what this is for, altho it does match a tiny socket on the lower dash)

( if it won't start, I can't get it to the garage for Cambelt (quoted £570) & Tyres. )

That is usually an immobiliser. Try touching the 2 prongs to the socket before inserting the key & attempting to start. If it then starts it means it is an auto immibiliser that enacts when you switch off.

I may have missed past posts but the VARTA LFD90 .. Is that not a leisure battery.. not a starter... ??
It's certainly what is fitted to mine as leisures.

They are dual-purpose, starter or leisure batteries. Better for leisure batteries in some circumstances, such as running a high-power inverter, which Gels don't like very much.

BTW - it's Burstner T620 Ducato with Electroblok 99 and AD-01
