Hi am confused, trying to register with autopsss and brobizz, but keep getting blocked as most moter homes classed as m1, but ours is over 3.5t. So I get car or commercial, car upto 3.5t. Or I get m1 or other. Spoke to customer service with above companies and they say, I should know what eu category my van is but I don't know cause eu sites does not specify other than m1- sa, but that's not for vehicles over 3.5t. Guidence on how to proceed would be welcome.

Look at your V5C document to find your type rating type. If it is M1, you should be able to register on autopass as M1 (i.e. car). However, what weight is your motorhome? I believe M1 has a 5,000kg limit (and 9 seat limit). The small print at the bottom of the page:

** Visit www.autopass.no/en/autopass for further information and how to order a tag. Register your exemption for heavy M1 vehicles or zero emission vehicles when you order a tag. An AutoPASS tag is free of charge, you will only need to pay a NOK 200 deposit which will be refunded when you cancel the contract and return the tag.

I would guess that you count as a "heavy M1 vehicle" and need to order a tag as well as register online in order to receive the heavy M1 discount.

And if you click on the "order tag" button, you have to choose between "Heavy passenger car in vehicle group M1" and "All other heavy vehicles", so I think that is the route to go down.

Thanks all.
Cmcardle75, I get what you ate saying and believe that's correct, but its the registering the exemption that I can't seem to sort. Also according to autopass from 1st Jan this Yr things are changing again, and some of the registering is down untill 17th Jan. So am hoping next week some more bits will become clear. I have ordered a tag via brobizz, but need to also register with autopass to get the auto ferry pass ( I think), to get the ferry discount. Thanks again, it does need a simpler system for all this.

Wow this is a tad confusing. I have registered with EPASS24.

Do I need to register with AutoPASS as well?

Finally, in addition, do I need to pick a, er, tag provider?? I think I am chasing my tail now.

In 2019 we went up to North Cape, via Sweden/Finland. Returning via the E6 through Norway (stunning road). We did not register with any organisation. All the bills for the toll tunnels etc came through the post after we returned and were not expensive. Hope this helps.

Ok. You have to register with autopass, as they are the government site to register your vehicle with, you will need to upload you v5. This then informs the providers who collect the tolls, about 8 you can choose from, and need to register with them as well epass I think is one of them. If you then want to use ferries within norway you need to go back to autopass web site and register separately for the ferries. As my van is over 3.5t I have to have a tag. You can then decide if you want a tag, so you pay as you go with discount on both ferries and tolls. Or decide to pay via anpr, where you will receive an invoice to your address, but can also request if via email, and you pay as the invoice comes in.on top of that you have bridge tolls, some toll collection companies offer upto 50% discounts on crossings. You need to decide which bridges you are crossing and which companies give discounts and you may have to register with them as well.
I have paid for ferries upfront, as you get further discount on some ferries, and have had to get a tag to put in window at a cost of 200k, which is refundable.
It's very complex.

I think EPASS24 might be Swedish!

I am trying to get a tag from EPASS24, but they are need my Organisation Number. Because I am not Norwegian, I don't have one. So close. I have emailed their support.

I think I had that, when trying. It's assuming you are a business, think I either did a personal application, or when I did the autopass application you get a number allocated, after a few days. I know I had to put that down somewhere. I did email autupass for help and they were helpful. Sorry can not be more helpful, as you said it was confusing and frustrating. I have a feeling I put the van as an m1 but put the weight as 3.860t and it was accepted.

I got a Auto Pass the white box that you stick on the window two years ago for Norway however never got so we are away in April is trere a sell by date or will it still be ok to use.

I believe there is no sell by date. Just make sure vehicle and contact details are the same, if not you will need to update.

We just got the Bropass tag in 2018 when we went to Norway. It gave us a 50% discount on the two Danish bridges and we were sent statements by Brobizz and billed via credit card by EPC. I seem to remember Brobizz took another payment in 2019 so it must have been on auto renewal unless the tag is returned. I got a refund but still have the tag in the van. i don't think the ferry discount was available then, if it was I shall tear my hair out later! So if we go in May as planned I'll renew the Brobizz which was around DKr300 and get both Autopass and Autoferry which I notice requires a NKr3000 deposit.

From my notes copied off Fun it seems the Autopass doesn't give discounts for the Danish bridges so Brobizz or EasyGo is still needed for them.
From an old thread:

Slimalex - yes, if you don't want/need the 50% discount on the Oresund and Storebaelt bridges then just an AutoPass tag is all you need. The EasyGO tags (Brobizz,OresundBizz) can be used to pay for some other things outside of Norway though (e.g. Danish ferries - check their websites for full list) which the AutoPASS cannot.

Bailey58 - all of the regional road toll operators issue AutoPASS tags that work Norway-wide, it's just a case of picking which one you prefer to have as your provider. Bergen is a popular choice. There is only one AutoPASSferry account though which can be used to pay for all Norwegian ferries. Any AutoPASS or EasyGO tag can be linked to the ferry a/c by the tag number and when the tag is read the discounted (50% and one fare rate for all vehicles up to 8 metres) ferry payment will be taken from the pre-paid AutoPASSferry account.

I think you are correct, but some things have changed in January this Yr. So might be worth just checking with autopass web site. My brobizz tag was 300k and Is a one off payment, and refundable when/ if I return it. I am not using the bridge, so have not bothered even trying to understand that element.

Now there Is a company that isn't shy of using illegal means and use and obtain details without regard to data protection and gdpr along with a whole host of other things I have posted on before.
