First surprise was my travel renewal insurance reminder arrived,,Same price as last year..Rang to pay it but was told being as we cannot travel do not renew until we can..Well done Nationwide Travel Insurance,,BUSBY :giggle: :giggle:

Why would you renew it at the moment anyway? There's no point surely until you are able to realistically make use of it, ie when you are able to actually travel abroad etc.

I renew just like I renew my Club membership etc.Thought it would save me going through declaring medical conditions etc etc but she assured me that when the time comes it will be same price and just a straight renewal.BUSBY.

You should renew just before you book to travel
It's a multi trip yearly policy and normally we go abroad for 90 days 2 or 3 times a year.BUSBY.

I can understand renewing something when you know you'll be using it but in the present climate renewing anything that isn't vital seems to be a waste of money IMV, all it means is you'll lose months of the benefit for no reason.

Yes, but you can let the renewal lapse, and then re-activate when you later want to make a booking for a trip

But it's not just a couple of quid especially if this goes on for much longer ...

Oooooh NO!

In X months time, how does anyone know what pre-existing health conditions any of us will have by then? We don't and can't - none of us ever even considered or were warned that we might get even one, cos auto-immune conditions just happen with no previous sign of it in the family, sometimes. Then we're stuck with it and can fully expect Travel cover insurers to charge more.

If I still had such cover via a bank account, I'd speak to the underwriter for advice, not the Bank who are not the insurers, frankly.

My renewal is with the insurance company not the bank because of medical conditions.BUSBY.

OK - but again they always retain the option of refusing to quote for whoever they don't wish to insure - and the insignificant fact that you USED to be insured has nowt to do with who they are happy to insure as a new risk, from the next day. No such thing as loyalty in this day & age Busby.

I have occasionally seen some of what seemed on the face of it to be that in the past, but then if I chose to learn more, their generosity was always coloured by how much dosh the collective premiums of that customer paid them.

It doesn't work like that normally, if there are any changes in your health you have to notify them so it doesn't make any difference if you take out the policy now or in the future.

Of course, it also covers fire and theft..
Might save a few quid but what happens if it gets stolen?
