Hi everyone, newbie here. Just got a pre-owned Esprit Comfort and all is well so far. Just brought it home to prep for a short trip and left the electricity plugged in overnight. The van has a strange smell in it this morning (sort of chemical) and although the battery is full on the meter, there is nothing turned on but the output voltage was at maximum. When I unplugged the mains cable it went down to zero output. Any ideas - is it overheating in some way?

First thoughts are a cooked battery.
How does it look? Swollen?
What sort is it. Can you see from the label?
All that will help the experts.

Just spoken to vends (Pullingers) and I think its me being a div. The high output is apparently just the battery showing that its charging, and the smell was probably the engine. The vehicle had been out of commission for 3 years before we bought it, so maybe the engine is just working its way in again? Hopefully so. As you can tell, I am very wet behind the ears.....
