Just to let you know that a new water pump fitted today and yes it's a five minute job but just thought I'd pass on my experience of dealing with the air blockage.
I could see the air bubble close to the tank so despite opening furthest away tap then the next and so on, it didn't clear.
Pump was working fine as a face full of water confirmed , but the air bubble didn't budge... Disconnected the out pipe and blew, but nothing, then I had a moment of genius . Fill the out pipe with water to lose the air bubble and quickly reconnect the pipe... It worked first time. Taps turned on and after a splutter or two, we had water for the first time in a while. Job done.. . Old skool thinking works sometimes.
