Don't own one yet
Hi all, just joined this afternoon, I dont own a van yet, but im here for recommendations and advice please, on which van to go for, im currently planning to sell my pride and joy, my 1978 ford capri, to finance buying a van, ive wanted one for a few years, but always something getting in the way, I will have a budget of around 10000 hopefully, and am looking for something like a day van, rather than a full on camper, 5 or 6 seats ideally, bed, that would do for starters, like I say, im new to all this, so any advice would be much appreciated

Welcome.

10k isn't much, possibly could stretch to an older VW Transporter T5 or T5.1 Kombi, and then one of the Kombi bed setups (or make one if you're handy), that use the folded rear seats to make the lower part of the bed?

You can then save and adapt as you go, adding a pop top, kitchen pod etc., bit by bit.

Have a look at the T6forum for inspiration, they do also have T5/5.1s as well.

Ive been looking at the T5s, found a couple within my budget, one local, it's a 2013, 2.0 diesel, 149000 miles, new clutch and flywheel, new belt, £10500 does this price sound about right?

Possibly, have a compare with those on Autotrader.

They do hold their price better than equivalents, but then a lot of people consider that they were superior to other vans at the time, I don't think you can say that as much with the later vans.

I'll have a look, thanks, is there any vans that people on here would recommend, transit, vivaro etc, I know the older transits suffer badly with rust, not sure about the newer ones

A couple of people I know with transits have had nightmares with the dreaded wet belts
