nice one Jim, liking the sound of that for rallies!

It is a really promising location Debs, not the shopping and eating spots like Pickering but good for walking and of course the train to Whitby/Pickering, big flat field, community room with a bar, football club style showers, and the guy that runs it is keen as mustard.

For info.... Re Sir Walter Tyrrell...

I stopped over a out 2yrs back (when I subbed to Brit Stops)...

You can only access from one end of the road if (like me) your moho is A class or wide..

The road is marked as narrow and unsuitable for vehicle more than 6'6" wide...
But the pub is before the "narrow bit" if approached from the nearest main road A31.

I'm 7m long 3m high and A class width.

Jim it's WALTER not water

I've been drinking there on and off since the mid 60s. Will be visiting again this week although we stop in Netley Marsh. A few pics from a few weeks ago.

That's good to know Martin, I've walked a bit round there in years gone by. The community room is a big plus I think.

On a side note, I hadn't realised there had been additions to the fun network, perhaps Jim could make more of a feature of them somehow. If like me, folks just click 'latest posts' when on the forum they might not even be aware there are any.

... I thought for a minute old-mo had moved again!!!! ::bigsmile:

Errrr... Maybe in the opening post.
... but is there somewhere in eg "resources" that they are listed (easy access and updated list) and described?
I've scoured the websites of 2 of them and they have no mention of CFL or motorhomes so questions arise such as:
* do they have water & waste facilities?
* are they mainly on-board as rally sites or happy for overnights any time?
etc.

I agree, have hunted but could not find Funster CL list on the forum. Also could not find a list of future rallies. Probably just me being thick

Hi Jim
We have stopped for a meal at The Sir Walter Tyrrell Pub on The A31 Lyndhurst New Forrest before and made a note that they offered overnight MH parking if you had a meal & some drinks. (y)
I just checked their updated website to check out what the menus looked like these days, plus any mention of staying overnight. It would seem that they are now offering a proper campsite nowadays, with prices to reflect that, but with 10% discount off meals while staying there.
So doesn't look like a free or even £10 per night stopover is on offer anymore.
See Below prices as listed on their website, good news is Camping in The Forrest is just up the road(y)
