New Motorhome parking for Runcorn

£25m being spent reopening a canal but the twist is there will be parking for Motorhomes by the visitor centre. This is going In the right direction.
take a look at the vid and plans

You watch the two on the silver fox as well. It was a big project, good luck to them. It all looks like it will be very nice.

I watched that yesterday. It sounds like the parking for the Falkirk Wheel or the Kelpies. The idea of a day trip on the canal to include the Anderson lift is something I would like to do.
A lot of places of interest would benefit from motorhome parking as planned for this project. We will never catch up with the continent but it’s about time the planners woke up to motorhome visitors.

It was not a council planner thing, they have been raising funds for it. As they are putting in a marina which will have water and waste I guess adding on a motorhome section is not much of a problem as the facilities will be on tap anyway.

I noticed it is a funded venture. I hope the council will have some input because its going to be of benifit to more than just the narrow boat comunity.

If they put some money in may be they will have some input, but I don’t see why they should otherwise.

Very good all round. As a former narrowboat owner it’s encouraging to see projects like this. Great quality video and presenting too

It will surely have to be commercially funded ? Council(s) investment ? Who owns the Manchester Ship Canal ?

Isnt life funny, I have lived less than 2 miles from the Anderton Boat Lift for 35 years, and been twice😂😂

I was working at Anderton dock ,about 25 years ago loading a small coaster with bulk animal feed and a narrow boat came out of the lift ,.i hadn’t seen this spectacle before so I watched it closely and as it chugged past me I observed a very scantily clad young lady through one of the portholes . Redface was in order .
