I have two new (lead acid) leisure batteries and I did have a mechanic lined up to install them but he has lost his toolkit . So the batteries are now going to sit in their boxes for a couple of weeks before I install them myself 🤞🤞.

Should I put them on charge in the meantime?

2 weeks won't make any odds unless they have been sat at the suppliers for months.

I am allowed in the kitchen draws but not in her handbag. Having said that it is always so heavy she probably has a full set of spanners and sockets in there.

I’m allowed one drawer but I have to keep it tidy😆

Would you need a mechanic, surely an auto electrician would be better.

Re the lost toolkit, I actually think the truth is he didn't want the job after all, having said he'd do it.
His excuse was he'd lost the toolkit to remove the seat - which even I have enough tools to do, and I'm not the DIY-er here ( though I have been known to build a run of kitchen cabinets when my husband thoughtlessly went away on holiday for three weeks with his mates - that'll teach him - and they're still standing)
