I was in Maplin today browsing and decided to get myself three of these completely wire free with cloud storage cameras, they look pretty good. Anyone else using this system if so what do you think of them...?

I got a set earlier in the year, I was going to put them outside but the range of the motion detection is hopeless. Was going to return them but decided to use them indoors, I will get a conventional system for outside. Also by the time they recognize movement and start to record they miss the action a lot of the time.

I did read a review about the distance of the night motion detector being good up to a few meters, were you hoping for long distance detection.

The range of the pir is quoted as about 16ft, but you would need to mount them so low, they would just get nicked.

In my experance with security camaras using the motion dectector is a waste of time. They get triggered by the slightest movement, plants moving in the wind I found to be the worst offender, leave them running all the time now.

Edit:
Apparently they only attach via a magnet and are unsuitable in areas of high wind.

You can get camouflage camera covers with tree mounts on Amazon which should overcome it but we are far too honest down here to nick cameras....(y)

There are a number of different mounts on Amazon...

One thing I am impressed with is the phone APP, we use it while away in the van, and can usually get an image, alerts and emails inform you when they have been triggered.

Why would you want to watch burglars trash your house ?

It isn't as though the local papers will even accept the "wanted dead or alive, no police involvement " ads these days.:(

I have a large dog that would have any unwelcome guest long before they got into camera view he doesn't bark he just sits in wait.(y)
