The Stourhead one has a CL attached to the car park but I am not sure what their attitude to overnighting in the car park would be. It sounds like the official line is it is not allowed but perhaps some sites turn a blind eye if you have booked a visit.
This is the latest reply CAMpRA have had from that NT, looks promising
SUCCESS! the National Trust have recognised the opportunity, and are going to work with our community to make "Stopovers" happen
Well done to everyone who wrote to them and supported the campaign.
Below is a statement the National Trust asked me to share.
We already welcome campervans and motorhomes at some of the places in our care. However, it’s clear from the incredible response in recent weeks that we need to do more to support overnight stays in our car parks at National Trust places, where we can.
Therefore, we’re working up a plan to allow campervan and motorhome users to stay overnight at more of our places. We’ve been trialling this in the Lake District this year and we’re now considering how we roll this out across selected locations next year.
For those of you with a larger van 8 metres plus, I maintain a map showing the NT sites that are easier to get into (and the ones that aren't). You can find the map AT THIS LINK
The link can also be found in resources on MotorhomeFun
We asked several years ago and were turned down but I'm now happy to see that it is changing as we often stop off at NT (and Englidh Hertiage) sites on our UK travels. However don't expect it to be at every place - many of their properties simply don't have enough room to park a motorhome at any time (see the link above). Also nothing yet seems to have been said about potential costs.
But if and when they do, we'll certainly be looking at making use!
